Book Review: Wreck & Ruin By Emma Slate

Romance novels tend to follow trends and tropes. One popular one is the bad-boy biker with a good heart. All the red flags are allowed; dangerous, possessive, angsty men. This week’s book is all of that. Lol. This week’s review is Wreck & Ruin by Emma Slate. It’s a roller coaster ride of tropes. This is the first book in a new-to-me series that I am excited to start.

Mia doesn’t have anyone in her world except her best friend Shelley. One night while working a bartending shift, she has a chance encounter with Colt, the president of the Tarnished Angels. What begins as a missed connection turns into a desperate plea for help. Mia ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and becomes the target of a rival biker gang. While trying to figure out why she was targeted and how to get her life together, Mia and Colt develop a relationship. As she navigates life in a motorcycle club and the risks that come with it, Mia shows a strength she didn’t know she had.

While hiding from the rival biker gang, there are so many personal tragedies that you wonder how she can get through it. Mia comes to find out that she has found a new family that will help her get through this crisis. The story has a very quick pace. It does not feel like it drags or takes forever to get to the point. The love story between Mia and Colt is well done and has good bumps that they both work to get past.

This book is the first in the Tarnished Angels series. I look forward to reading more of this series. The author has a way of pulling a person into the story. I loved the characters she introduced, even the Scottish gangster and his wife. I look forward to reading more by her.
