Is there a movie or TV show that you watched when you were growing up that you can’t find today? You have SCOURED the internet; either it’s super expensive, or people act like it never existed. While I have several, the one that I have been actively looking for is the Chipmunks Adventure. I can’t find the DVD or the soundtrack. I found the songs on YouTube, but that’s about it.

The Chipmunk Adventure movie came out in 1987 and had some of the best animations of the decade. The movie follows the Chipmunks and the Chipettes as they compete in a race around the world. Of course, it’s more complicated than that. Two diamond smugglers, have convinced them to do the competition as a way to get around the authorities. The original songs are so good. Diamond Dolls is still one of my favorites. Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, makes a brief appearance in the movie. Now, this movie was made in the eighties. The world was so different; some portrayals of cultures would not make it to film today. The chipmunks are supposed to be young teenagers; they made Brittney look very mature. When explaining this movie to someone, I forgot that it was diamonds that they were smuggling. I said it was drugs, which would have made how much effort went into catching them make more sense. However, this is a movie cartoon movie with singing chipmunks. Only some things are going to make sense.
Finally, after years of searching, I found the movie in an online archive. I watched it this week, like it was the first time. While I still hope the soundtrack will appear at some point, I will use the movie online.
