The Maple Hills series is becoming one of my favorite book series. It is light-hearted and humorous. It’s not overly smutty and deals with issues not always covered in books. It is a nice escape from reality. I was able to read this book without many issues. I love the way the author lets the story flow.

This was a charming story about a couple who came together at one of the most challenging times in their lives. Haley is coming out of a year-long relationship with her friend of 10 years. At the end of the relationship, she has concluded that outside it, she doesn’t really have friends. Halle is also the family manager, which means she puts a lot on herself to make sure everyone around her is happy—a people pleaser. Henry, on the other hand, is captain of the college hockey team, an art major, and is realizing slowly, but surely, that he’s putting a lot of pressure on himself to be a great leader.
This book is what you would consider a slow burn. You can tell they’re attracted to each other. They decide to take things a little bit off the beaten path. So, they start as friends, and from there, Halle tells Henry that she needs to have experiences to write a book for a writing competition. They go on dates, and they come to terms with their feelings. As time goes on, they realize that there’s more to them than being good friends. They really care about each other and like each other.
There are outside forces and hands as well. Halle’s ex-boyfriend is on the opposing hockey team and is causing her problems. Henry is having issues that almost look like impostor syndrome, and they cause him to spin out a little bit. I feel like Henry himself has some mental health issues that are not addressed by him or anyone else. Halle sees this and states that it looks like ADHD, but again, it is not confirmed. It’s a sweet, enduring story that makes one really love this series.
Unfortunately, there is no other book in this series. I was slightly disappointed. I had come to love some of the characters in this series. I wanted to see their happy endings. That aside, I did enjoy this book. It was a quick read and a lot of fun. 🥰
