One thing that I have decided to do recently was watch a new anime.  I am a chronic rewatcher, meaning if I like something, a book, movie, TV/anime, I will rewatch it. Over and over.  One summer, I watched Lean on Me on repeat, watching it at least twice a day.  For help finding a new show, I went to my favorite place, TikTok.  There, I found a cute anime called Ramen Akaneko.  Just a cute anime about cats running a ramen shop. Lol.

The anime starts with Yashiro running to a job interview at the ramen shop.  She’s already nervous because she needs the job.  She was also very curious because one of the main requirements was that the applicant be a dog person.  Imagine her surprise when she walks in and sees that the place is run entirely by cats.  Yashiro’s main job is to make sure that the cats are brushed so that hair does not get into the food they make.  Once she starts working with them, she sees that the cats are very dedicated to their jobs at the ramen shop. 

One thing that is perfectly portrayed is that while these cats can talk and do human jobs, they are still cats.  The anime does a good job of showing the cats’ personalities while making their backstories very touching. This anime is only twelve episodes long, but it showcases everyone in a way that doesn’t kill the vibe of the story.  The cats are all types, the playful white cat who is a waitress.  The black stray cat who is the sous chef.  The orange tabby that is in charge of making the ramen, whom everyone calls Boss.  The lovable and sweet grey cat who knows everyone.  There is also a very anxious tiger who is in charge of making the noodles.  As chaotic as it sounds, everyone has their job and works hard at it.

The only real downside to this anime is that it looks like it was computer-animated.  I say that because sometimes the characters look like they are robots on the screen—very stiff movements.  I would be getting into the story, and then the next thing I know, robots are on the screen. It got to be very distracting.

This story is a charming slice-of-life anime.  While there is currently only one season, this is a good anime to binge. There is also a second season coming soon.  I do plan on watching the next season.
