It’s been a hot minute since I have a book review. It’s for a good reason. This week’s review is almost 500 pages long. With life being life, having to be an adult, and other things happening, it took me a while to finish. I can say that it was not because of the book. I did not have time. At one time, this book was all that Booktok or other tiktokers talked about. I’m a little late to the party, but I made it. This week’s book review is Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros.

When I started reading this book, one of my friends said, “ I thought you only read smut??”. For the most part, most of the books I read are very obscene, but if the story can hold my attention, I will read it. That was the case with this book. It might not have sex scenes in every chapter, but the story was excellent. Violet Sorrengail had plans to become a scribe, but due to her mother’s interference, she finds herself at Basigiath College. She is now set on a course to become a rider. She has to live long enough to accomplish it. She quickly learns that no one is safe and that losing students due to death is expected. While at Basigiath, she makes both friends and enemies alike. Violet is pulled into an intrigue that makes her doubt her professors and family. Along the way, Violet finds a dragon companion and has to build trust and understanding with him.
Writing a summary of this book was hard. If I get too much into the review, I must put a spoiler warning on this post; that’s how much detail and story there is in this book. This book is entertaining and ends on a major cliffhanger. I can say I could not expect what was going to happen next. Also, there is so much smut, but it’s closer to the end of the book. 😜
