Labor Day has come and gone, and with it, a tradition in the Atlanta area—the popular fan convention Dragon Con. Dragon Con is a convention where fandoms get together and embrace the things that make us one nerd family. It is a huge event. There are thousands of people who attend. Finding a place to eat is almost like finding gold. I walked miles in three days, standing in line for what felt like forever. This was a fantastic experience, and I also got to meet new people and see people I hadn’t seen in a while.

This was the first time, since pre covid, that I spent the whole weekend at a Dragoncon. It was also my first time volunteering. Mentally, I was prepared, but my body was not. Lol. I will be better off next year if I volunteer again. I got to meet new people and had a whole new experience. I will tell you, it’s a lot of work. Fun, hard work. This was perfect because it was hard for me to meet people and get out in general. I was able to step out of my comfort zone.

Every convention I go to, my favorite thing to do is go to the vendor hall. I love seeing what people have to sell. Or I am looking for something specific, and the convention is the perfect place to find things I need help finding online. One of the things that I wanted was a full-size One Piece wanted poster. I successfully found one. As well as various prints, pins, and jewelry. 😜

This was also the first year that I attempted to dress up. I did a Kuromi cosplay that I forgot to get a picture of. 😅 One day, I swear, I will improve at taking pictures. Dragon Con will be a fun place for me. When I first started going in 2008, I had no idea what the ride that life would take me. It’s been almost twenty years since my first convention, and I am proud of the person I am today. I am living life and enjoying it. Thinking back on that time, it was the first time I had been in a place where weird little me fit in. I still remember the amazement and shock of so many people with the same interest as me. I found a pic of me from Dragon Con 2010; those who know will know I am standing on Dragon Con history.

Now it’s 2024, and I am still going. I have added Momocon to my con list as well. I love being around people who love the culture of conventions. Maybe one day, I will venture out to different states and new conventions.
