Dance Class

I will be honest with you. Exercising is very dull. I know it needs to be done, but I have to find ways to keep me interested. I find going to the gym by myself very intimidating, so I usually join a class of some sort. I have done boxing and kickboxing. This time, I decided to do something different. I am taking ballroom dancing lessons. It’s small enough that I don’t feel overwhelmed. So far, I am enjoying it.

Why would I pick ballroom dancing lessons?  In a previous post, I mention a love of musicals.  I loved watching the dancers on the screen.  They moved so gracefully; they were so in synch.  They flow perfectly.  Only as an adult do I realize how actual practice they had to look like that.  Young me just thought the music came on, and they just moved along.  Another reason is the Ballroom Competition that would air on PBS.  This is where I fell in love with Latin dancing, particularly the Paso Doble.  I loved how fast-paced it was. The costumes were always so extra; I loved it. I always would watch it when it came on TV.

Graceful and in synch are not words I would use when it comes to dancing.  Usually, I tell people that if they see me dancing, take the alcohol away. 😂 I can tell you this: I am getting a workout.  For some reason, I thought that it would be easy.  I saw myself just flowing around the floor.  I can tell you for a fact that is not what is happening.  Each class, I am getting better.  I am unsure how many classes I will take, but I know I will try to enjoy myself.
