Due to personal reasons, I had today off. I decided to make the most of today. Tiktok has been bombarding me with ads for The Tutankhamun exhibit. I love learning about history and viewing items from the past, so this would be a good thing to do today. Side note: everything I think of Tutankhamun, I think of the name I have called him for most of my life, King Tut. This, in turn, makes me think of Steve Martin singing “King Tut” on Saturday Night Live.
Before going to see Tut, I decided to enjoy my day. For lunch, I went to Kura Revolving Sushi. As always, it was so good. Being there when they opened meant that everything was so fresh. Of course, if you prefer to wait for the sushi you want to come around, you can order a fresh one. I like going by myself. I can sit at the counter, listen to music, and zone out. Take my time and go through the menu to see what isn’t on the belt but available to order. Most of the time, I get miso soup, but today, I felt fancy, so I got fried scallops. ๐
My entry time for Tut was 1:30; by the time I ate, it was noon. Looking for things to do, I decided to go to Anime Remix. I walked in expecting manga, but that was not the case. There was a small selection of manga, but the store was for everything related to manga and anime. There were Funko Pops, keychains, lanyards, plushes, and a wide range of figures. I brought a Nezuko-Demon Slayer figure home with me. ๐
Then it was on to the big show. If I were to point out the building the exhibit was in, you would not believe me. Located in Doraville, the Exhibition Hub Art Center is in the heart of Buford Highway. Walking up to the doors, I was slightly nervous. This was something that I was doing by myselfโdeep breath in, best foot forward. I go in, show my ticket, and get my audio tour guide. One thing about the audio tour guide is that they had a LOT of info. It was entertaining and informative. The exhibition was open, and due to the way everything was set up, groups staggered in every ten minutes. This gave you time to walk around, listen to the tour guide, and read what some of the displays said. It’s hard to imagine that Tut was only eighteen when he died. Some of the furniture barely looked like it could fit a child, let alone a full-grown male.

I have to do better at taking pictures. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. And information that I received. One exciting thing was that with the help of his benefactor, Lord Carnarvon, Howard Carter spent years in the Valley of the Kings looking for Tut. Carnarvon had told Carter to stop work on the site because it was expensive. Carter talked him into one more chance. During his last chance, he found the tomb. One thing I wish the exhibit did was to talk about the aftermath of the discovery. I knew I was at the end when I entered the gift shop.
All in all, today was an excellent mini adventure. It was a good day to go out and explore the area. The weather warmed up, and the sky even cleared up a bit. I am very excited to plan more adventures.
