Hello! I am Candi. This is my first time ever doing a blog. I hope you can enjoy my growth and the activites I have planned. Over time I will talk more about myself, but keep this first post simple. 🙂

For as long as I can remember, I have been a daydreamer. I always knew that it was my safe space. My day to day could be filled with anxiety, depression, and overall sadness. In my head, I had all of the confidence. In hindsight, there was really nothing holding me back from being the way I was in my head. Just me. However hindsight is 20/20, fore sight is blind.

The one thing that pulled me out of my shell. It was reading and movies. Today, I want to talk about my love of reading. Growing up, I had a book on me as far as I could remember. A tattered paperback in my purse or carrying a hardcover. I am embarrassed about how many comic books I destroyed in my backpack. Once in grade school, the library gave my class of Newberry award winners. I gave the list to my mom and asked her to get many of the books that she could. Luckily my mom worked up the street from Harold Washington library in Chicago. My mom and the librarians made sure i had also all of the books over the summer. Its one of my favorite memories growing up. As far as I was concerned, this was fueling my daydreams. In my mind, I was vital to all the superheroes. I could visualize books the same way that people would watch TV.

I still remember when I was in eighth grade, I was gifted a bag of romance novels. To be fair, romance novels in 1995 were way different than the romance novels of today. My romantic soul found precisely what it needed. To this day, romance novels are my go-to in a bookstore. I do occasionally try other genres. With romance novels, I get a happy ending. There is not a lot of hidden subtext. I am not going to overthink the characters. I will do this with people who have read the same books as me.
